Charcoal, pastel, graphite & acrylic coating on Kraft paper, 43" x 30"
The work was done shortly after my daughter left for university, the second of our two children to leave home. It expresses some of the haunting loneliness I experienced, as well as the ancestral connections we all have in teaching a child before she sets out on her separate life’s journey. This drawing was accepted for The Mom Show, curated by Kit Maloney, in August 2009 as part of the Trincomali Art Council exhibitions at the Mayne Island Library, Mayne Island, BC. However, due to a death in the family, I was unable to deliver the work there. I thought that people might like to see it here, though!
