Butterflies in Progress

This quilt top is based on a pattern found in Jan Mullen's Cut-Loose Quilts (C&T Publishing, 2001, California). It was a joy to explore all the blues and yellows in my fabric stash. The quilt has since been finished and is in the private collection of someone whom I believe actually uses it! I really like the idea of making beautiful objects which are also practical and comfortable. This is of course not a new philosophy -- William Morris and John Ruskin come to mind as rather famous proponents of the idea.
