Kriss Boggild
I am excited by colour, gesture and expressiveness. I am moved by the panorama of each day and grateful always to see the drama, wherever I may be, and however large or small it may be! I grew up in Quebec, visited Nova Scotia frequently, sojourned in Ontario for 7 years and drove across the country to British Columbia about 25 years ago. I have traveled in Asia, Europe and the Indian subcontinent. Each place and its peoples has informed my art and enriched my visual vocabulary.
Although a lot of my work is landscape-based, it is not necessarily representational, as you will note as you go through the galleries. I have completed courses in drawing, painting and creative process at Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design, and have also taken drawing courses at Langara College. I was taught sewing and needlework and knitting many, many moons ago by my mother and my grandmother, and use those media in my art work as well. For the past three years, I have been honing those skills by taking part time courses toward a Diploma in Advanced Textile Arts at Capilano University.
I have had “day jobs” as a lawyer, an editor, a set-painter, a seamstress, a knit-wear designer and as the director of ARTROPOLIS 2003. I have always painted and created mixed media art. I espouse environmentalism, pacifism, and humanism.
